An Au Pair is typically a young female (there can also be male Au Pairs) currently studying or taking a gap year. She would either hold a qualification or be in active persuit of one through furthering her Education.
Au Pairs typically only work when the children finsish school. They would fetch the children from school (with either their own car or the employers car), be responsible or feeding them lunch and snacks, drop and collect them from extra mural activities and assist with homework and projects.
Au Pairs typically do not clean in the same way housekeepers do- however, they may be asked to be resposible for the cleanliness of the childrens environment as well as their dishes etc.
Au Pairs may be asked to bath children, assis with bed times, baby sit from time-to-time, PA duties, shopping for the family, cooking family meal and dog walking.
They are usually paid AA rates per km for dropping and fecthing children. Sometime Au Pairs are requested to work full days during school holidays.
